A new, 15-story glass-and-concrete condominium building - called R+D 659 with 237 units - is planned at Randolph and Desplaines in the West Loop. "In a little more than a decade, the West Loop has transformed itself from an aging industrial area to one of the most vibrant neighborhoods in Chicago renowned dining, eclectic nightlife and avant-garde galleries," said Gavin Stein, vice president at Mesirow Financial Real Estate Inc., the developer. "R+D 659's location is right in the center of everything." Base prices range from the low-$200,000s to the mid-$400,000s. Units have 1 to 3 bedrooms. Sizes range from 608 to 1,230 square feet. Six penthouses are planned too, starting in the mid-$500,000s. R+D 659 will have a heated, underground parking garage with-187 deeded spaces. Other building amenities include a sun deck, an exercise room, bicycle storage and an entry lobby with modern art work and contemporary style. Units will have finishes such as Italian cabinetry in the kitchens and baths, black granite kitchen countertops, stainless steel appliances, Grohe faucets, slate flooring in bathrooms and Eucalyptus wood flooring in all areas besides bedrooms and bath-rooms. The architect is Brininstool + Lynch. A sales center is scheduled to open soon at 626 W. Randolph. |
